I love taking old sayings and updating them. The reason for old sayings, other than they’re old, is to cite the same stuff we go through now with what they went through thousands of years ago. Or, as the bible tells us in Ecclesiastes: “There is nothing new under the sun.” Of course this is mostly misconstrued as leaving out tech. Tech comes from the human mind as it did from gunpowder to nuclear fission. In all cases the human mindset is what that old saying speaks to.

So, the road I am on began in 1948. In the intervening years I have traveled more places than I can remember including Pago Pago. That is not a well traveled place, you know? Why we stopped there aboard ship was anyone’s guess. However, always wanting to learn, I got the hang of racing cockroaches over a bar in a saloon for money. You don’t see this in New York.

Looking back, I’ve seen more than I can recall and would like not to recall many things I’ve seen. Now I can almost see the end of my road so I wish you sobriety and narrow focus on your road. Whatever you do, don’t try to steer off your road to soon. There is purpose to how we handle our vehicle on any road we travel. Cliffs and washouts are many so stay on the straight and narrow. It isn’t as much fun but eternity comes at a cost. The cost is denying some pleasures. Keep this in mind when you race cockroaches on a bar in New York.
